LAXCRUISE – Relaxing Sci-Fi Drive
LAXCRUISE is a relaxing, endless sci-fi drive. The road, the city and the sky are generated as you go, so no two journeys are alike and none of them ends. It is meant to be relaxing rather than exciting – something to leave running, closer to meditation than to a game.
You can watch it in any modern browser, or step inside it on a VR headset: the immersive mode uses WebXR and works on Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest and other virtual reality devices with 6DOF tracking.
The drive passes street lamps, oncoming traffic, bridges and tunnels, and travels between cities through open country. Overhead there are aircraft, satellites and the occasional UFO. The sky runs through a full day: golden hour, sunset, the blue hour, deep night with the Milky Way and deep space, then dawn and morning. It rains sometimes.
Ambient music plays from the doors of the vehicle and follows your head as you turn it. Pass-by sounds, road noise and rain on the canopy are generated in real time. Now and then a short line appears above the road – a quiet thought about the road, the night, love and distance.
